§ 01 — What the game stores

On your device, and only there

All of it lives in the app's private storage area, managed by your operating system. Deleting Nano Surgeon deletes all of it.

Progress

Cases completed, ranks, scores and unlocked tiers. So the game can pick up where you left off.

Settings

Music and effects volume, joystick side, haptics, whether crew guidance is on. So you set them once.

Encyclopedia

Which pathogens and medications you have encountered. So the reference entries unlock as you meet them.

Device identifier

The identifier your operating system gives the app is used as an input to the key that encrypts the save file on disk. It is never stored in the save and never leaves the device. So a save file copied off the device is not readable or editable elsewhere.

§ 02 — What the game does not do

The short list

Nano Surgeon contains no advertising identifier and never presents the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it has nothing to track you with.

§ 03 — The diagnostic logging switch

Off by default, and local either way

Settings has a diagnostic logging switch. Turning it on lets the game keep a short record of in-game events — a mission started, a case lost — in memory, for the current session only.

In this version that record is never uploaded: there is no server to upload it to. It exists so that a future version can offer opt-in crash and gameplay diagnostics. If that is ever added, it will be announced in the release notes, this page will be updated first, and the switch will still default to off.

§ 04 — Children

Suitable for younger players, and it still collects nothing

Nano Surgeon is not directed at children under 13 and is not distributed in the App Store's Kids Category. It collects no data from anyone, so it collects no data from children either. There is nothing for a parent or guardian to request the deletion of.

§ 05 — Apple

What the App Store does on its own

When you download the game, Apple handles the transaction and may collect its own data under Apple's privacy policy, not ours. If you have opted in to sharing analytics and crash reports with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may show us aggregated, anonymised crash and usage statistics in App Store Connect. We cannot identify individual players from them, and we cannot turn that on for you — only you can, in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

§ 06 — Your rights

There is nothing held about you to exercise them against

Under the GDPR, the CCPA, the LGPD and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. Nano Surgeon's publisher holds none. If you want the game's local data gone, delete the app; your device removes the save with it.

§ 07 — Changes

Dated, and never retroactive

If the game's data practices change, this page changes before the version that changes them ships, and the effective date below is updated. Material changes will also appear in the App Store release notes.
